The Nutting Truck and Caster Co was originally started in 1890 and became one of the preeminent design and manufacturing organizations in the United States. Elijah Nutting, the founder of the company, was approached by a Minnesota businessman having problems with product transportation. After listening to his story, analyzing the problem and different suggestions, Nutting went to work on a tilt style platform truck -- the first product to carry the name Nutting. Between 1891 and 1984, Nutting manufactured and distributed casters, wheels, hand trucks and towline trucks at its Faribault MN plant.
